Two occupants of a vehicle are lucky to be alive today after one was thrown from the vehicle in serious condition (status 1) and the other occupant was pulled from the upside down car in status 3.
The vehicle was driving at speed and it was believed alcohol was a factor, the vehicle was brought to the attention to police earlier by other motorists due to it's driving behaviour prior to the crash.
Tamaki drive was closed near Mechanics Bay as Serious Crash investigated.
The road is fairly straight at that point and the vehicle hit a tree before rolling and coming to rest on its roof.
