Raw footage of a thunderstorm over Central Auckland and a lightning strike on the Auckland Sky Tower this evening. Thunderstorms rumbled across northern New Zealand this afternoon with almost 1300 lightning strikes recorded. The Weather Watch Centre's head analyst, Philip Duncan, said the company's lightning tracker showed thunderstorms off the west coast in the Tasman Sea circling close to the centre of a low. Seen on TV3's Nightline.
